## Summary

The Canada Lynx Mathematical Competition (CLMC) is a 90-minute, 15-question multiple-choice paper, eligible K–12 and recommended for grades 7–12. CMS shows CLMC at the start of its CLMC → COMC → CMO → IMO graphic, but COMC is open — you do not need a CLMC result to enter it.

### Parent advice

CLMC is a useful autumn warm-up before COMC, not a gate. If the school cannot host, ask CMS about Open Writing Centres.

### Student advice

Use CLMC to practise contest timing. If you want the national olympiad pathway, also sit COMC — it is open.

### Teacher advice

For 2026 the Canada/Americas date is 1 October (2 October elsewhere). Registration closes 24 September. Canada pricing is CAD $12 per exam, minimum 3; outside Canada PDF is USD $15, minimum 5.

- Plan to sit COMC later in the autumn if aiming at CMO
