## Summary

The Fall O-level is the first sitting of the school year for the Tournament of Towns. It is the somewhat easier of the two difficulty levels. Within the same level, Juniors (grades 8–9) and Seniors (grades 10–11) sit different papers on the same date. Only your three best problem scores count.

## Context

The autumn basic round of the Tournament of Towns — separate Junior and Senior papers on one day in participating towns worldwide.

## Guidance

### Parent advice

Participation is free, but arrangements are local. Check whether your town holds the Tournament and which date applies. Encourage your child to attempt a few past O-level problems without time pressure first.

### Student advice

Read each problem carefully — partial solutions can earn marks. You only need three strong problems, so choose which ones to develop fully rather than rushing through all of them.

### Teacher advice

If you are starting a local committee, read the official rules for holding the Tournament. Ensure papers are sent to the central organisers on time and that Junior and Senior cohorts are clearly separated.

## How to prepare

- Practise a recent Fall O-level paper under exam conditions
- Study official solutions to see how arguments are written clearly
- Focus on finishing three problems well rather than attempting every question
- Check the official problems archive for Junior vs Senior papers
