### Parent advice

Ask the school to register rather than applying as a family. Watch the official 2027 page for the registration window (opens September 2026). The final is in person at Rochester Independent College.

### Student advice

Paper 1 is 50 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, marked +4 / −1. Read around the subject (CORE Econ and Mankiw are the recommended texts) and practise IEO and previous British Economics Olympiad papers.

### What is the British Economics Olympiad?

The BEO is the UK national economics olympiad, run by Rochester Independent College on behalf of the International Economics Olympiad Committee. It was previously called the Great British Economics Olympiad.

### Who can enter?

UK secondary schools and colleges. The questions are aimed at GCSE and A-level economists. RIC recommends that entrants are at least 14, and participants must be 19 or younger.

### How do we enter the 2027 competition?
